N2 to ICR2 ???????

by banelso » Sat, 06 Sep 1997 04:00:00

Does a converter exist for transforming N2 tracks into ICR2 format?
There are a lot of new N2 tracks coming, but no ICR2 tracks.
(i.e.) Gateway, Texas, California, etc.

  From what I understand,,,,NO.
The tracks have progressed from N1 to ICR2 to N2.  You can bring a N1
track to ICR2 and then update that to N2, but you cannot take a N2
track backwards through the progression...
(now, having said that...Why not???)  A converter could look for all
da things new from N2 and strip them away or reformat them in the
older file format....Isn't that what converters do??)

It's been said many times, there is NO N2-ICR2 converter, nor is there
lilely to be!  The N2 track format is incompatible with the older track
(ICR2, N1) formats.

Sorry, ICR2 users, but you will not be able to share in the joy of these
new tracks....
