GTR2002. Where are the proper setups?

by Mike Beaucham » Thu, 26 Dec 2002 14:30:45

I'm not really "into" this game enough to start from scratch with my own
setups. So I was wondering, where are the proper setups for the cars
located? Whenever I play regular F12002, I just use the default setting for
each track (Not the "Grip", but the one named after the track that appears
in the setup section).

I did a 50% race at Spa in GTR2002 using one of the NGT Ferrari's with AI on
90%. I used the setting that was already loaded, which I think was the
"Grip" setting and it seemed fine. I also tried the other setting, "Begium"
and noticed that the gear ratio was TOTALLY messed up. So, I ended up doing
the race on the "Grip" setting, and came in 6th place.

Am I using the right setting? Why was the gear ratio completely different in
"Grip" than in the "Belgium" setting right next to it?

Sorry if I'm a few months out-of-date on this question, but I never really
gave GTR2002 a proper playing until now.

I did see that posted already, but what gets me is... what setup was I using
before then??? When I load up the game, go to spa and it says that it's
loaded the "Grip" setup, where is that coming from? Is that not the right
setting? Seemed to work.. but the "Begium" one stunk.

Did it extract to all the track directories in your setups directory? There
should be at least one setup for each car at each track.

Thanks,
Alex

If you've correctly installed Arnao's default setups, you'll have
chassis-specific setups in each track directory in your settings
folder.  If you don't choose a setup it loads a generic
chassis-specific setup that in most cases in not very good.

"Mike Beauchamp"

the grip setup is most likely just a copy of the F1 Grip setup.  It's
there I think more as a placeholder than a real setup option.  If you dload
Doug's setups and make sure your winzip is configured to use the folder
names, then unzipping to the main setup folder will place all of Doug's
setups in the proper subfolders. (i.e. each individual track)  All of Doug's
setups are already in the  .  (dot) folder but they are not separated out so
finding the proper one could be confusing.

Awesome.. I got the setups downloaded, and everything is good. However, I do
wish they were named a bit better. In the car selection screen, it doesn't
give the model numbers for Ferarris and such, but the setups are just model
numbers and I have no idea which one goes with the car that I am in. I guess
I'm sticking with the porsche until I learn all the cars :)
