THRUSTMASTER HELP PLEASE!!!!!!

by motisk » Tue, 25 Mar 1997 04:00:00

I seen something posted awhile back i know i should just go back through
the files but this is quicker.. heres the problem. when i come off the
turn the steering wheel jerks to the left so i bring it back to left but
it shoots me straight into the wall. in the calibrations screen it jerks
all over the place so i cant get an accurate reading.  the new pots?
should get here this week i m getting from thrustmaster but i thought i
seen like a quick fix for it. like cleaning it with something i cant
remeber. the problem is i never had this thing open yet so i dont know
what to expect.  first where do i look for the pot i think thats what
its called?  anyway the reason i just want a quick fix is because i have
a league race on hawaii tuesday night at darlington and im sure you all
know how ugly it will get if something happened and the car shot into
the wall infront of everyone.....

Thanks

Get some Tuner Cleaner from Radio Shack, take off the cover of the wheel
unit, and the pot will be the round metal thing at the end of the steering
shaft.  You'll need to spray the area between the pot and the shaft.

Is this good maintenance even if your pot isn't going bad?

More than likely it is just a dirty pot.  Find a electronics supply
store (or Radio Shack) and get some "Tuner/Switch Cleaner/Lubricant".
The pot is at the base of the steering column inside the console.  It's
the doo-hickey with the wires soldered on it.  Spray the cleaner inside
the pot (I usually shoot it in the area where the housing is open by the
wires.  Then move the wheel around to get the cleaner all over the
contacts.  Give it a couple of shots and things should clear up.
