I just downloaded the demo, MAN is it memory hungry or what!!! The frame
rate is worse than CART p. r. Seems like a fun game, but requires too much
memory. And I'm not short of memory either, in case you're wondering I have
a P133, 32mb RAM, STB Velocity 128.

I rather stick with ICR2

make 100% sure that you are useing the direct joystick and not the optimized
joystick. your next problem would be the 133 but check your joystick settings

Nope Chuck.  His PC is way to slow to have GPL run decently in
non-accelerated mode.

The STB is a great card for D3D.  With my PII 266, I'm having a blast.  But
for GPL , it's hell on earth.  In 640x480 in non-accelerated mode, I need to
take off ALL (yes ALL) of the graphics to have around 15fps.  Geeze Nothing
to look ahead, no braking spots, nothing.

I have to get in vga with most of the graphics off to have now a fun out of
it (25fps).  The  Non-accelerated version of GPL will be improved over the
alpha demo, but I can't figure how I will be able to get the 20fps I should
have with my PII 266 (with all graphics On).  Kristtian, get another card or
at least a better processor !!! ;-)

Did I wake up this morning in 1992 or something? Get a 3D card pal! Last I looked it
was 1998 right? In the event it IS 1992 I sincerly appologize for this outburst. Have you
heard of PII400 or Voodoo II or even MMX? P133 and STB Velocity? ROTFL! I have bought 2
video cards since I had a STB Velocity!

Well, Krisstian, you really need to have a look at a few GPL-related
sites before leaping to erroneous conclusions!

GPL represents the dawning of a new era in the writing of "core" data
for the game engine and, as such, the product is dependant on the use,
by you, of the latest in 3DFX video cards in order to get the best out
of it.  You will also need a good CPU.
Lack of emory, in your case, is not the problem.  What you need is a
Voodoo1 card to go with your P133.

Get one of those and then try it.

Polite as ever ... are all Australians this nice to one another? If so, I'm
glad you're on an island ...

It's okay.....Byron lives in the 'Red Centre'....the 'Outback', as you
may know it.
He has little face-to-face contact with living creatures and therefore
his inter-personal communications skills are somewhat lacking, which is
understandable when you consider that his closest neighbours are a
family of dingos. One *has* to be very forthright and down-to-earth when
dealing with them, you see, otherwise they'll sneak into your bark
lean-to and steal your infant children.

I'm telling my Tongan neighbours you said that! And you wont have to worry about the
tattoo covered husband either. It's the 20 stone wife you better look out for! And she's
been exercising by mowing my lawns for me (in return for the use of my mower for their own
lawns) and doing some aerobics also. Be afraid, be VERY AFRAID!

Btw, a p133 is not good enough even with a 3dfx. A friend of mine has that combo and
it's not good enough. P166MMX (the "MMX" being important here) + 3dfx is minimum I'd say.

Agreed......oh, about the P133 I mean!

I am now catching the early flight for the Bahamas......as far away as
possible from Tonga!! :-)
