FIA_GT vs ALMS

I have run more ALMS laps, but strangely prefer the GTs cars of the first
mod.  However, the guys I race with run ALMS so that's has been my focus
until today...I managed to get plenty of GT laps in at the only track that
I've run a similar # of laps..
the A1 Ring, My lap times are close...but...
The supposedly slower ALMS GT cars are about a second quicker than the GTs
cars of the FIA_GT mod.  My gut tells me there is more speed left to find in
the ALMS Callaway car but I've been on the knife edge for the GT
Viper...dunno if I can improve any more  with it.  I haven't compared trap
speeds, but my fasted GTs lap is .9 slower than my best ALMS GT lap.  You
would think the extra power in the GTs cars would make up for the lack of
grip in the GT mod, but, at least for me, the tackier feeling ALMS cars are
easier to drive fast.
I wonder if we could get the GT mod and the ALMS mod closer together in
grip levels...maybe add a little to the FIA mod and take a little away from
the ALMS.

You're going to like Version 3 Dave. In addition to the new Diablo, graphics
updates (including LOD tiers for the wheels), sound improvements and the
successive release of new tracks (Mugello, Zolder, Estoril and more...),
you'll love the new physics. The work is almost done here and it'snothing
short of a joy. This years regulations have an increase in the wing
allowance and in addition to this there have been very many tweaks under the
bonnet to bring these cars as close to their real life counterparts as is
possible. The end result is going to put a smile on everyones face! Well,
maybe not you Doug E ;-)

What do you mean?, The Countach was italian.

Btw, wasnt Vipers engine tuned by Lamborghini?.

Looking forward to the V3!. I couldnt really control the car in the earlier
versions,
i had this "snap out of grip" effect on the car all the time.

Mee toooooo.  Thats why I enable the low setting for throttle assist or
stability control...(forgot what it's name was)  'bout the only way I could
turn a lap without looping it..(I figured it was a Viper handling quirk, and
since my sim-contracts with Nickel & Dimeler Benz-Chrysler forbid use of
other brands, I'm contractually stuck to the Viper){hehe--kidding}

He's asking about what the name means.  And I think the answer to
his original question is "sort of".  "Countach", in Italian, is
an exclamation.  I doubt "holy shit" is really the best translation,
but maybe something along the lines of "wow", "gadzooks", or "Duuuude,
wouldjalookitthat!!!" would do.

Or at least that's my understanding.  And no, I don't really speak
Italian myself, despite my last name.

I doubt that very much.  Where did you hear that?  I'm not challenging
you, I would just like to check out the source of that rumor for myself.

I'm not sure if this is true or not, but to me it is possible given that
Chrysler did at one point in time own (or partly own) Lamborghini IIRC.

That's true, we did own Lamborghini at one time (I work for
DaimlerChrysler).  But even though I have not been directly involved
with any of the Viper development, I'm pretty sure we have always had
our own people working on the tuning of that engine, and for that matter
the whole vehicle.  We have a separate group for performance vehicles, I
remember them coming to the wind tunnel when the car was first being
developed.  An interesting rumor though, I will try to remember to ask a
few people about it.

"Haqsau"

I think I can squash this rumour just by using the ol noggin'.   Lets just
say the Dodge boys actually wanted outside help.  Lets say Frankie Canstanza
or Castaing actually thought about asking the Eyetallions for input.    Lets
just suppose they actually shipped a Viper mill over to Italy.  What do you
think would have happened??

<engage the wayback machine Sherman>

(Thunk!)  {the sound of a large American V10 being carefully placed on the
workbench.}
(Lambo Engineers)  Whatsa dis?
(Dodge Boys)  It's our new V-10, we want you to tweek it...
(LE)  Butta Waita...itsa meesing ah two sillindars
(DB) Thats ok...we want a V10 not a V12.  Besides we couldn't fit a V12 in
our new pickup.
(LE)a fast long stream of *** Italian followed by one last dollop of
Inglesh...ana tayka you Peek-UP motor and scram....

Clearly Lamborghini did NOT work on the Snake Car's mill.
