Few cars use the same colours. True, there's many a week before the first
race, in which time a lot of *** can take place. Personally, I'd be
honing my skill at Cleveland.

A good 1995 car set functions as a good graphic base for a 1996 set, just
as a good 1995 ICR1 set (which I did only about four months
ago, with full knowledge of its pending obsolesence) functioned as a good
graphic base for my ICR2 set. This holds true regardless of how many
paint jobs can be categorized as fundamentally new, because a good number
of sponsors and other graphic elements will inevitably carry over from
one year to the next. There is no need to do a 1996 set from scratch by
any means.
I don't at all begrudge your preference to practice. As for me, I'm an
inherently lousy player, so my not doing more seat time instead doesn't
really bother me, esp. with the game in its present buggy state. I
genuinely feel I've derived more enjoyment from the Paintkit than most
other people have from actually playing the game, so that makes it money
and time well spent.
