I liked it, but never found a fix for a graphics glitch on my system.  It
seemed that during a race, I could not see the opposing cars if I had
mirrors activated -- only the shadows of those cars on the racetrack.
(IMHO racing without mirrors was out of the question).  Changing vid
drivers (to an older version) fixed the problem for me, but in turn caused
weird graphic anomolies in GPL.  Given the choice between Toca and GPL,
GPL won out.

BTW -- my vidcard is a Radeon 9700 Pro under WinXP.  TRD2 was the only sim
that ever exhibited this problem on my system.  If anyone has discovered
vidcard drivers for this card that work well with both GPL and TOCA, I'd
be interested in hearing about it.

But in terms of game play, I really liked it.  I thought the sense of
speed and tracks were excellent.  Physics weren't bad either.

OK arcade racer with nice graphics, until I got to the Ralley cars,
then I gave up on it.

I totally agree. Some cars are very fun to drive (I personnaly like the
Vintage Classic), but some other are very very very bad, like Rally cars and
winged car that don't feel like winged cars...

The graphics are superb - particularly the silky smooth framerate but the
handling is way too dumbed down for my liking.

I enjoyed the XBOX version.  But after finishing it, it just
didn't have the legs to keep me going.  So, back to PGR2 and even
GT3 (not much PC simming lately).

Give me a PC game of the GT3 format but with real tracks like the
ones in Toca2 and some decent AI.

What's so great about GT3? Only six cars to race against and the
physics are complete arcade. Bah! Sorry, but GT3 ain't all that and
I'm sick of PS2 fanbois claiming it is.

Good game for sure. Some races were better than others (Rally stunk) but
overall fun pseudo-sim romp with decent story to keep you going.

Whatever dude.  Whoever likes something that you don't is a
"fanbois".  Enjoy your little world.

Agreed. I bought it after seeing some amazing scenes on a TV game review
show, but the controls always felt -- to me anyway -- like I was supposed
to be using a control pad rather than a wheel & pedals. So I never really
got any satisfaction from the driving.

Mind you, racing round Bathurst was a new experience. That's a hell of a
roller coaster ride!

Are you a GT3 fanboi or not? Your post says YES. Tell me again, what
is so great about GT3? Um, it's got lots of cars to drive? Weak reason
to call it a great game. And I have played it on a PS2. Kiddy fare.

Did you try it with a wheel?

>Did you try it with a wheel?

No. I have wheel but it doesn't work on a PS2. We sold our PS2 anyway
as it didn't impress me enough to keep.
