: How did you get involved in Formula Mazda and are you racing the entire
: series? Is this your first series?
Funny chain of events in my life, first I always wanted a sports car so I
bought BMW M Coupe (May 1999), then I wanted to go to the limit so I went
to autocross (never knew there was autocross). Having lot of fun, but I
wanted to tweak the car from top to bottom so I ended up buying Formula
500 (SCCA open wheel race car using snowmobile engine and continious
variable clutch (CVT)). Then I realized I could race in real tracks
(thought Mario Andretti could only race...) so i went to SCCA driving
school and got racing license and started racing in 2000. Totally hooked
on racing. No doubt the best drug of all! (and costly). Then I wanted car
to just look like F1 so I ended buying FM last Nov 1999 and now I already
had 6 races with FM this year.
Now I am racing in Star Mazda NorthEast Series (see
http://www.racersedgemotorsports.com and look at NE Star Series) and now
doing Mid Ohio track homework for my next race. Formula Mazda is made by
Star Mazda http://www.starmazda.com
From the replies (thanks million), it seems much better watching video of
in-car at Mid Ohio which I just got from http://www.midohio.com driving
school. I also have tapes from 2000 Runoffs (Runoffs is SCCA National
championship, the "Super Bowl of Amature Racing") so it was big help for
me. Also reading several hot lap tips too.

:> I plan to race (SCCA Formula Mazda) at Mid Ohio in two weeks time and I
:> would love to use GPL to lap around Mid Ohio as much as possible before
:> hitting on real asphalt. I already have GPL and just ordered Track
:> Converter. Does the Track Converter includes Mid Ohio track data or I
:> have to buy ICR2 (Indy Car Racing 2) software in order to convert Mid Ohio
:> data into GPL format?
:>
:> If I need to buy ICR2, where do I buy it? I don't see in local CompUSA,
:> et al.
:>
:> Thanks for any help!
