N2002 On-Line Problem

by lee.ward » Wed, 21 Aug 2002 06:44:31

During an on-line race after I did my qualifying run and during warm-up I
disconnected from the server. This was to re-set my dial up as I have a 2
hour limit.

On attempting to re-join the server (via Sierra.com) it would not let me in.
It came up with an error message "Server may be full or grid may be locked"

Any idea why? I've used this procedure several times with no problems
before.

Lee,

Maybe the server was full or the warm-up had finished and the race was
about to start.

No the server wasn't full and warm-up hadn't finished

Actually a common problem. Sometimes it will let you right back in, other
times it won't. You simply have to keep trying, it has taken me as many as
10-15 tries over a 10-15 minute period to get back in.

My best advice is to search for an ISP that doesn't time out so long as data
is being transferred. A lot of the races I have been in take longer than 2
hours which for you would mean a disco mid-race.

Good luck.

Thanks very much for reply. I thought it might be "just one of those
things". Unfortunately, the availability of ISP's who allow unlimited access
on dial-up here in the UK are pretty rare. Fortunately, as I've finally got
broadband arriving in my area soon ;-) it hopefully will not be a problem
for much longer.
