New N3 MPEG looks cool!

Well, I finally got it downloaded and have watched it several times.
Granted, they seem to have sped up the video a bit (I guess for a little
more "fast-pace-action" effect), but the video definitely gives the
impression of a real NASCAR race.  For example, the car mounted camera views
seem to shake with road vibration like they do on TV, abeit exaggerated
slightly due to the faster video.  Also, I think I can see cars rolling on
their sway bars, especially on the part where Skinner gets bumped from
behind by Andretti about 27 seconds into the video.  Another thing I noticed
is the AI seem to wander a bit more on the track, mainly in the
straightaways, unlike N2/N99 where they pretty much stuck to their
pre-programmed .LP files.

I can hardly wait!

Any other observations on the video?

I facts to back this up, but what makes you think what you were seeing was
AI?

17-18 sec. into the video-
Man, you see mayfield spin?  Not only does it look like he made contact with
another car, he actually spins around before hitting the wall.  Seems like the
papy guys might finally be on the right track.

Also seems like the cars are making contact without automatically spinning,
which is a big, big plus.  Road texture looks great, and the smoke is really
wild.  And I really, really hope this isn't showing online play.  Because at
about 46 sec. you can actually see 3 cars drafting, and as the leader moves
down, the others follow.  of course, I assume that this is multiplayer, but
still would be nice.

Bristol, Martinsville, Rockingham, Michigan, Darlington and N. Wilkesboro.
heh, also find it very, very funny that everyone is so happy that we are
finally going to have an authentic Indy, and then Papy announces they are
re-creating the exact copy of IMS, Ontario..  Oye, double or nothing..

Just chillin' like a villian,

What are you guys using to view this clip?  I am trying to use Windows media
player and I get sound, but no video.  It looks as though the codecs are installed
and I have the latest media player version.  You using anything else?

Rick, I had problems too when using Windows Media Player. To get it to work
all you have to do is rename the file from NascarRacing.mpg to
NascarRacing.mpeg and that should do it. It worked fine for me after that
and hopefully it will for you too.

All I noticed was not a single in-car frame....  It certainly looked like an
ad. for an arcader...but I guess that's all you can do in 30 seconds.  We
have the still shots on the site for those interested in details.

Marc.

You've got a point,  I just assumed it was AI...  :)
After watching it some more, it does seem at about 45 sec. that Mayfield
wobbling a bit much for AI, or even for a professional human driver... :)
But you're right, some, if not all, of these shots could easily be human
drivers.  So what are your facts, now that you've got my curiosity piqued?
:)

I stand corrected :)

Ok, I am stupid.  How do you rename it along with the extension MPG.  When I use
the drop down and choose rename, it only renames it to NascarRacing.mpeg.mpg.
How do you rename the extension?

Thanks from a moron
