What about the dx diagnostics? Press Start, Run, and then type dxdiag
On the tab Display1, does it say that Direct3D Acceleration is
enabled? If not, can you press the button to enable it?

Simply clicking [Disable], then [Enable] fixes it.

Glad it's working. I think the problem with DirectX and the
dxsetup program is that the button to enable/disable direct X seems
backwards. When direct X is DIS-abled. The button will say EN-abled
because that is what will happen when you clik on it. Goofy eh?
