Hi All,
I have just bought N2003 after reading about it here for quite a while now.
It is possibly the best simulator I have ever spent money on (Including GPL
which is still excellent). It is also a real bargain for just the original
game, never mind all the amazing tracks, mods, utils etc available for it,
and at 19.99 U.K. (PC World) I am well pleased. Some of the Oval tracks
that come with the game are good fun to drive, but like a lot of people,
roadcourses are where I prefer to do my racing. I only race the A.I. and
have not really ever been too interested in online racing. Anyhow, to the
questions which I hope to have some answers to.

First of all, addon roadcourses. I don't want to bore you but here is what I
have downloaded over the last 2 days (Nearly melted my modem). I was hoping
you guy's could tell me if there are more available for download that I have
missed. I do mean ONLY roadcourses with preferably good working A.I.

Surfers Paradise
Basslake
Bathurst
Bell Hill
Birch Raceway
Bullrun
Chicagoland
Cleveland
Coca Cola?
Falkemberg
Gotzenberg
Hallsville
Hillside
Hockenheim
Karjarla
Kyalami
Leipzig
Lime Rock (Twist)
MCR Arena
Mexico
Midohio
Monaco
Monza
Mosport
Mustek
Noisring
Nox
Nurburg (Original 14 mile GPL)
Oring
Oulton Park (Wow!!!!)
Phillip Island
Portland
Queensland
Redrock (Oval?)
Road of Steel
Roadone
Rockingham (Oval?)
Rockingham Cup (Oval?)
Rouen
Sandown
Sebring
Silverstone
Spa
St Jovite
Toronto
Valley Hill
Vancouver
Watkins Glen
Watkins Glen (With Boot)
Winton
Zandvoort

Phew! Quite a list I know. Here some I already have but don't use for
various reasons.

Daytona Road Course
torn8o_091103 (Figure of 8 type)

If I have missed any good ones, I would appreciate some links please. Is
there also a website anywhere that monitors the progress of tracks that are
being made and due for release? I would love to see the GPLEA's Solitude in
N2003 for example!
I have also downloaded the excellent TPTCC Mod from the US Pits and this is
the one I use all the time. Are there any more fully working standalone mods
I have missed, or due out in future?
Also, in GPL there would be some websites that helped with suggestions for
setting up the game for optimal performance, such as FF settings, Graphics
settings etc. Do any exist for N2003? I run the game with *ALL* GFX settings

2, and apart form tracks with loads of buildings, it runs smooth and fast
with no visible slowdown, and this is with up to 42 cars on track. I have
downloaded quite a few Utilities etc too.

Is there anything the typical offline roadcourse driver needs for maximum
fun and enjoyment out of N2003 that I have missed? If so, can you please
suggest them and where I can download them? Is there also a website like GPL
where one can upload their laptimes etc for everyone else to see? One which
covers a lot of the above roadcourses hopefully.

Ok, last few questions if you have got this far (Sorry it's long, but I love
this Sim!).
The A.I. for Monza (Old GPL version) appear to be much too fast. They are
turning 1:14's and passing me with ease, even on the *Outside* of some very
fast corners! and this is with them set at 70%. Can they be adjusted
slightly until I start getting a bit faster here?
There is also a strange problem with the old GPL Nurburgring A.I. They are
not very competative, and if they touch the grass verge etc they act all
weird and dissapear or crash etc???? Can this be fixed because "The Ring" is
an old firm fav from GPL? Last question (for now <G>). On some tracks with
the TPTCC Mod, all 6 gears are available and work perfectly. On many others,
although you can select all 6 gears, there is no noticeable difference in
sound and speed when using 5th and 6th? Any idea why this should be, and can
I do anything about it? There are bound to be lot's more questions, but I
will leave them for a future post. Many thanks for any help with links to
tracks, mods, FAQ's and any advice or suggestions. What a great SIM Papy and
all the private track/mod builders have made for us all to enjoy!

Andrew.

 <G>). On some tracks with
It's probably the setup of the gears...try going into setup and
adjusting the ratio of 5th gear higher and/or 6th lower. I noticed this on
some of the touring car setup also.

NASCAR Rank, which does support the TA/TPTCC mod:

http://www.schuerkamp.de/zope/nrank

You really should invest in the official convertor for the GPL tracks,
available at

http://www.sim-garage.co.uk/

Otherwise you may have an old obsolete (pirated) version.

However even then the AI is either much too fast or is still bugged
at some tracks (at Spa the often wreck at Eau Rouge, at the
Ring they have problems negotiating the esses right before
Schwalbeschwantz).  I may try my hand at fixing the AI line at
Spa soon...

SNIP

Oval, included with the retail release of the sim. 2.5-3 Miles in length, no
plates.

Oval, was in the 2003 Season Track Pack from Papy IIRC

Road course from the NR3/CTS days as the CTS still raced roadies back then
and this was one of the two.
Oddly missing from your list is the other CTS roadie, that being Heartland
Park near Topeka Kansas.

Maybe? The one CART ran on ?

If this is Rockingham NC (aka North Carolina Speedway), it is an oval and
has been in the sim since it started and NASCAR since 1967 +/-

Also missing is the Papyrus road course, which was included with the 03
Track Pack IIRC and it is a high banked road course. Quite interesting
indeed, but is a roadie nonetheless.

Not a road course, but a NASCAR oval.

Fantasy oval included with game.

Not an oval.  A fantasy road course put out by Papyrus for Nascar2.

This is quite likely the oval across the pond in England.

And this is likely the NASCAR oval in NC.

It is.  It is set up as a plate track to simulate the ASA based ASCAR
(to be renamed soon) series that runs there.

This is the same track as above but with the restrictor plate removed
- so for Cup cars rather than ASA cars :)

Mark

Here's a good list of tracks available for N2k3 (ovals and road courses)
with download links. The list is a bit difficult to read as you can't
sort by track type, but it's pretty comprehensive and frequently updated.

The Madcowie version, not the N2 fantasy track (which for
some reason hasn't been converted yet)-MC's is a twisty
highbanked road course with a different layout, without the
wild elevation changes in the N2 track...

I have seen screenies of Le Mans Sarthe 67, as well as Watkins
Glen '48, and there are undoubtedly other GPL conversions in
the works (someone is working on a generic converter which
gives you the basic layout from GPL-no AI, no TSO's-tho some-
one else is working on a TSO converter too!).  A guy named
Bogar has a 19 mile road course in the works which from what
I understand will make the Nurburgring look like a ***cat...

N2003? I run the game with *ALL* GFX settings

and a GeForce 2...

If that s not a typo why not get a better graphics card? :-)
