Midtown Madness - Cornering

Hi
Just read a post stating that this game requires lots of power sliding and
handbrake turns.
But I find cornering very difficult and have to slow right down for the
corners and the car tends to go quite wide - no rear wheel power slides or
effective handbrake turns. I`m talking about both FWD & RWD cars. Am I doing
something wrong ?
I`m using MSFF wheel and tend to use external view.

Thanks.

Hi,
I guess, you have to turn the "physical realism" (in the screen, where you
choose your car) to pretty low, to be able to take the corners fast.
The physics become "arcade" then, but as the AI always uses these physics,
sooner or later you'll have no chance, using high "physical realism" ...

In other words, Microsoft doesn't even play by the rules in their games,
right?

:)

Sorry, couldn't resist.

That one's for you, Greg :)

Just to add to the discussion a bit, my experience with cornering at
speed in MTM with the Mustang Cruiser is that the grip will often give
out all at once.  I use the Wingman FF wheel, and I don't know how I
could drive this one without FF...  It's crucial to feel the point
where the wheels let loose, because it's all over if you con't correct
it right away...

Another thing-- if you do spin out, why does the engine/power cut out
and let you coast backwards for a couple seconds?  It's maddening when
you're 5 feet away from dropped gold in multiplayer, and you're just
rolling along away from it...
