From papy.com news March 17, 2000:

Announcing NASCAR? Acceleration Pack.  The NASCAR? Acceleration Pack
includes our award winning NASCAR Racing? 3, NASCAR? Legends, and brand new
for 2000: NASCAR? Racing 3 Craftsman Truck Expansion Pack.  Three top titles
in one package for one great price.  We'll have pricing and availability
information soon.

I guess this is all just a lead-up to N4 in a few months???

Marc.

Actually, I realise now that it makes some sense...since I wouldn't have
paid even $5 for a truck pack.

Boy, do I feel guilty for using Daytona in N3 after this news...

Well I bought N3 as soon as I could find it when it first came out.
I am happy I did so too. I wouldn't want to wait until now to get
it. The online racing on won.net, (while troublesome at times)
has made the game totally cool for me. Great fun and glad I
paid full price for it. I don't like the truck racing or the legends
stuff anyway - so there :-)

Well I likely would have waited to buy NL, especially since with the betas
of N3, going back to the original NL (old mirrors, support for only two
controller buttons, etc.) is tough.  I have avoided playing it really,
waiting for the patch.  However, I prefer NL over N3 if I was forced to make
a choice (between two patched versions).

It is just one in a long, long string of software publishers punishing
early-adopter purchasers of their games (and other products) instead of
rewarding them.  Lack of upgrade rebates for games like F1RS-->MGPRS2 or
N2-->NR1999 and so on are another classic example.
