Why don't you try going on one of the many servers available through the
game and see if you still see warp? Sounds like your friends dial-up
connection is what is causing the warping.

I think the key to your problem is in the line "even all the computer cars".
I would think that computer AI cars require bandwidth to transmit their
location, speed and heading just as if they were a real human player. Online
racing with AI cars is not really what this sim was deisgned for. Use the AI
offline and race against humans only while online. Why Papy includes the
ability to run AI online is beyond me, it makes no sense.

That said, turn the AI guys down to 1 or 2 if your 56k friend is hosting (or
off altogether) and only run 9 or 10 if you host on cable. Your best bet for
racing online is for all humans to be included.

Because two people racing head to head by themselves on a 2.5 mile oval
is boring.  I have never tried AI over the internet, but when I race
against friends on a LAN I usually throw in a few AI just so that we
will have a decent sized field.

Thats fine and dandy on a LAN, but you have to consider bandwidth when you do that on-line.....and I
believe this is the point he was trying to make.

Well I interpreted his statement to mean that he thought it made no
sense to combine AI with multiplayer capability, and I disagree.  In
fact ISI caught flack from a few people for not providing that
capability.  But to your point, let's just say I want a 20 car field.
I'm not sure why 2 human drivers plus 18 AI would have different
bandwidth requirements than 20 human drivers.  Papyrus claims that you
can run a full 43 car field online, so I would think it could handle a
few AI without any difficulty.  The server CPU load would be higher, but
the bandwidth requirement should be similar.
