I found the same thing when I added the patch I got funky music at the
beginnig, Paul Page saying "this is Indycar racing"  and then during the
game nothing but wall bumping sounds.  I have nerver gotten a reply from
Gravis on this and I relly got spoiled by the greaty native sound on
Nascar.  Anyone have the low-down

Gus max engine snd. sucks??!

Greetings,

I recently got a patch from the gus site for indycar. But only the midi
was improved, and no engine souns at all. Without this patch I only
get engine sounds, but it is some different sort of fm synthesis, than
the soundblaster has. A previous SB card gave the normal amazing engine
sounds (almost like the real thing), but this Gus snd sucks.
Does anyone know when the engine sounds and all will be corrected???
The patch they now provide is only for the midi/digital sound.

Drive carefully, hang loose

Dennis.

The deal is this- the AIL drivers do not support FM synthesis. Since
the audio in ICR is, for the engines, synthesized, you get no engine sounds.

The FM synthesis was mercifully tossed for NASCAR- the engine effects
are synthesized but sound VERY digital- the audio is incredible.

You could try SBOSMAX but you'll lose ALL of the digital...you only get
FM sound. There doesn't seem to be a good solution to this.
