RASCAR - How to get involved?

by bertr » Tue, 13 Aug 2002 08:09:53

OK.  So, maybe I'm a *** for asking this question in the midst of
the current threads about RASCAR.  But, I like the idea of being able to
race with a good group of guys, when you can make it.  (ie - not being
held to a fixed schedule, like a league).

I have some online racing experience -- just not in NASCAR sims (GPL
only so far).  I know that there's some requirement to select a car
number, etc, but is there a website that covers how to get involved in
RASCAR?  (ie - procedures, schedules, etc)

Thanks.  (I think.....)  8-)

There *is* a fixed schedule.  We race on Saturdays at 4pm eastern. We
also race where the cup guys are running on a given weekend.  That's the
schedule.

Go here:

Everything yuou need to know is there.

RASCAR - How to get involved?

by bertr » Tue, 13 Aug 2002 11:08:32

One Question, John ---

How do I get a car file?  The rules say that I can't use an original car from
the game.  I ain't no artist, so how do I get a car file?

Thanks,
Bert

RASCAR - How to get involved?

by Jan Verschuere » Tue, 13 Aug 2002 17:52:19

Current situation has been blown out of proportion somewhat, not to worry.

I will vouch for your online ability as a GPL racer. If you keep within your
limits I don't see why you shouldn't race in the "series".

To shortcut to a question you asked in another thread, indeed, you can't use
one of the original cars to race in. But, it's perfectly acceptable to take
one of the existing cars (with the right number, of course) export it's
livery to a temporary file and import it back over a blank car which you
create in the game, naming it according to the following convention:
xx_nnnnnnnnn.cup.car, where xx is the car number and nnnnnn is your name or
online ID. Also, if you ask really, really nicely I think John can be
persuaded to let you use something from his hand, provided you don't dent it
in the races, of course. ;-))
