Motocross Madness 2 - tired of hotlapping

I found this true too. I can *sometimes* win on Nationals but NEVER in
Supercross. I usually finish second to last. It's still fun though, I like
a challenge.

Thanks,
Alex

I used to get beat by the AI in the first game, then I started playing
online. After a few days of really striving to compete against real
human opponents, I was able to defeat the computer opponents with
ease.
I haven't even played single player MCM2, despite playing a couple
nights a week, but the first game does have the "catch up" logic
you're talking about. Default was on, but you could toggle it off with
a CTRL/key combo.

>I agree. I much prefer racing games with 'catch up' in them.

"Catch up" logic CAN be annoying - if it's done in a "best line on the
last corner wins the race" kind of way. But it wouldn't have to be
done like that in MCM2. If the AI riders just made a few more
mistakes, I'd have an honest chance of catching them.

That's interesting ... I looked all through the MCM2 menus but
couldn't find anything.

I have been able to win in supercross on MCM2 about 40% of the time when I race
in the 125cc class. You have to get out to an early lead and the CPU opponents
will tend to make more mistakes trying to pass you up on the big jumps, which
you should jump safely and conservatively.
I have also noticed that it is much harder to win in the 500cc or open class,
partly because you will tend to overshoot jumps and run off course, and also
because the CPU opponents tend to use the extra speed of the bikes to better
advantage.
The game is a Hall of Fame racer, right up there with Gran Tourismo, GPL, Viper
and a hand full of others. I have played the original MCM1 back to back with
MCM2, and I have noticed that MCM1 is actually harder to beat for me at least.
MCM1 has less realistic but more demanding jumps, and it is much easier to
highside as you turn. MCM2 is the more fun of the two, for me, but MCM1 is
worth keeping for now because of the amazing tracks and fantastic jumps.

Also annoying is the fact that if you go off the track for a
moment you get sent back after five seconds which can mean losing easily.
They should really have made the areas accepted as the track wider, since
I get called on going off when I don't really think I should.

That's my main complaint about the game, and why I don't like the races with
tracks.  Quite often I'll slide off the invisible boundary of the track and
get right back on, only to realize that it's counting it as an "out".  Then
I have to drive back the way I came to go over that spot I went out.  All of
this means, of course, that there's no chance in hell that I'll place
anything other than "last".  *sigh*

I agree.  They really should have provided one or two easier
difficulty levels.  I have found that once I have done ghost racing on a
track for about ten laps or so, I can beat the AI on Easy.  But if there
was some Extremely Easy setting for the AI I could learn the track with
opponents, which would also be nice.
