I raced my first online F2 race yesterday at Brands Hatch and it was
just incredible. The racing was as close as F3, maybe closer cause of
a bit more recoverable driver errors. You dont have to fight the car
as you have to in F1, so you can concentrate on racing and line. It
was just so fun and now I want to race in a league. I wonder if I'm
alone :o)?

Welcome to some real racing Christer.  :)
They are good, i find then to be the closest and best racing, while
still reflecting the actual handling traits of the F1 cars, without the
out of feeling control..
With the F2 cars, you can actually race and dice with other drivers,
without having to worry about the passing manouvers coming only when
the car in front spins off...
The drafting effects really are noticeable in the F2 cars, and if
anyone thinks these things are slow,  think again.
They will keep a F1 honest at most tracks. :))

The GMSS is just about to start our 1st season in F2, so if your
interested in competing in a field of clean, quality and patient
drivers, where winning is not everything, have a look here:

Cheers from a F2 & F3 driver,

FATSO (Formula Advanced Trainer Simulators association) is starting our
second season of F2 racing this fall and we are looking for a few good F2
drivers and after racing with you last night you are certainly one.  Check
us out at http://people2.mw.mediaone.net/gmclachl/index.htm and if we can
work around the time difference you are welcome to join us.

I hope this isn't too stupid a question, but what is meant by racing F2?
It seems to be getting pretty popular.

If it means racing the GPL Trainers, I thought that you couldn't race the
trainers "out of the box" -- that some tweaking of ini files is needed.
If so, can someone explain what needs to be done?

Thanks.

Hi Bertram,

To race the F2 & F3 cars, you need to edit a file..

Make up a new driver, call it Bertram_f2  or whatever, then exit back
out of GPL..
Go to the players directory in the GPL folder and go to the Bertram_f2
folder and edit the: PLAYER.INI  file...

Change the line that says:  driver_rating = 3

For F2 cars,  change the number to 2
For F3 cars,  change the number to 1

Save it, get out and race to you heart' content.  :)

Note:  that line is under the heading of:  [Personal Information]

Hope that helps a bit.
Cheers,
Ron
