N2 Setups?

by Andy Robert » Tue, 22 Jul 1997 04:00:00

Ok, I'm sure you guys are sick of this question, but I only got N2 last
week and have been messing with it.   Have all the patches installed, but
I can't change setups!  No matter what I do the setup won't change from
EASY!  It's annoying.  I know this has been posted before, but I didn't
pay as much attention until I bought the sim.  Any help?  Thanx

Andy,

I don't know if this'll help, but here goes...

Let's say you choose "ACE" as your race setup, and "Qual" as your
qualifying setup.  Then, let's say you choose "FAST" as your default
setup.  When you enter the practice session, you'll run with the default
setup you've chosen.  When you enter the race session, you'll run with
the selected race setup.  It sounds like maybe you're changing the
default setup, but not changing the race and qualifying setups, or
vice-versa.

I did the minimum install.  Don't have a big enuff HD for the full
install right now.  I'll have to play with it before I get too
frustrated.  Thanks for your help.

You can't use any other setups that what come with the game unless you
do the full install.

If you've already done this, don't be insulted.

Put easy (or Ace or Fast or a downloaded setup) in your work window.
You will not be able to change any of these and save them. However,
once you have one in the window, click on the name itself. A cursor
will then appear. Erase the name, and call it whatever you wish. Now
you can change and save your setup as you will.

 Hope that works,

 Kirk

: You can't use any other setups that what come with the game unless you
: do the full install.

If you install the patches available for N2, you can use all of the
setups (including those you create yourself).  There is no need to do a
full installation.  However, if I remember correctly one of the patches
makes the qualifying setups Read-Only.  You will need to turn of the
Read-Only attribute/property to access them after installing the
patches.  Or it could be that one of the patches doesn't install the
qualifying setups and you need to copy them from the CD-ROM.  Either way
you need to turn off the Read-Only settings on the files.

Yeah, you've gotta uncheck the "read only" box in the race stg. file as
well or else the game will reset to the "easy" setup when you go from
qualifying to race.
