TD4 patch? Where is it.

by Matt » Sun, 28 Dec 1997 04:00:00

I am curious to know if anyone knows where this patch is.  I got an
e-mail about two weeks ago saying that the patch was going to be
released two weeks ago.  Haven't seen it and have gotten no other
information.

Do any of you guys know anything about this.

I am currently packaging up this piece of  %$#$% to send back to
Accolade.  Nothing that they promised has been implemented.
Downloadable cars, working dash (When I talked to them before ordering
the game), and the patch.  I was also told by one of the sales reps that
this was a simulator and not the arcade game it is.  Unless this patch
actually does something and shows up early this week this lame duck is
going back.

What took you so long?  <grin>  It only took me about 1 day to come to
this conclusion, especially after that piece of ***(TD4) crashed my
DirectX/3dfx drivers.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who dislikes TD4!  I find the
steering to be way too sensitive with my steering wheel (TM Nascar Pro).
I got TD4 as a XMAS gift - going to see if I can at least exchange it
for a driving game that works at Comp USA ...

Any suggestions on a driving games that works ?

I solved my problem.  Since Accolade could not respond to my question by voice
or e-mail, I sent the worthless piece of ***back to them.  In my opinion the
game reminds me a lot of Test Drive Off Road in that is sucks eggs.  The only
reason that I kept it this long is the promise of the downloadable cars.  Guess
where we know where that went.

CompUSA may not let you exchange it.  They have this really warped sense of
software.  Once you open the software all you can do is exchange it for the same
software.  I woud send it back to Accolade or call the CompUSA district office
if they give you any flak.

Yeah, I was fooled into buying Test Drive Off Road too!  It was bundled
with 2 other titles, NFSSE and Road Rash.  TD Off Road was so bad that
I thought my computer must be at fault - what responsible company would
release such junk ?  But as I look at more and more games, I came to
the realization that most games rarely live up to their promises.  Seems
as though most game vendors are great at creating attractive boxes and
deceptive ad copy, and most have figured out how to display pretty
pictures or video clips, but rarely do they ever manage to put it all
together into a truly working game!!!  I'm mailing my Accolade games
back to the company too - along with a letter telling them how shitty
their software is!

Matt,

I have returned 2 open packages of software to CompUSA and
recieved a full refund each time. Yes,they do have their policy posted
of exchange only for open boxes, but if you ask before purchasing the
software if it is returnable if opened within 30 days, they will tell
you that it is. If you are still leary, just have them note it on the
back of your reciept and sign it.

They sure are.  I remember the days when accolade was a respectable, high
quality, software publisher.  Like TD1 and TD2 -- WOW!  What great old
games...But now, they are even beneath microsoft quality.
