For you Kiwi's an Auzzies out there, I reckon they got it wrong in the
explantion of the Murphy and other guy crash...
What I think happened is that the guy in the little hatchback crashed,
and dropped that piece of suspension on the road, the Audi ran over
it, punctured the sump, and the oil coming out of there was the cause
of the crash, NOT the little hatchback. Because you may notice that
the Audi spilling oil was right in front of Murphy's car (forgot the
actual drivers name:) and the other guy...
Well that's what I think anyway. The guy in the hatchback is copping
all the flack for it too.

I was watching here in OZ and it was exactly how
you said. The TV guys (Murray Walker,  and our
channel TEN guys) also said this.
Maybe the telecast you were watching had different
commentators and THEY got it wrong.

You could be right about the Audi hittiing debris and damaging his car
cause there was an awful puff of smoke or something and I don't think it
was tyre smoke, but the Vectra and Volvo seemed to be in trouble even
before that happened and it was probably oil from the hatchback. He's
going to cop a shit load of flack all right even though he tried to do the
right thing. Next time he'll probably just park it next to the barrier
!!!!
