LWFF repair/disassembly

Hey!

The left paddle on my LWFF has just died.  I've tried to pull the wheel
apart, but haven't had much luck.

I've run out of screws to undo on the inside!  I can't get the motor out of
the way, and cant find a way to get to the back of the paddles.

I've tried from the outside too.  There are three screws on the back of the
wheel, but the paddles are in the way, so I can't get two of them out.

Does anyone know of a step by step guide on how to pull apart a LWFF?

Failing that, whats a good replacement?

Thanks!
Pete

Ive had my right paddle "die" twice but you dont need to take apart the
whole thing!!!!
Just take off the wheel, then unscrew 4 screws on the back of the wheel
itself. Then u can take it apart and access the back of the circuit board.
Remove the tape that is covering the metal button thingie for the shifter
and spray underneath it with some electrical cleaner. Then you can cover it
up with some scotch tape. Worked for me.

BTW the 4 screws im talking about are not on the wheel itself but on the
plastic cylinder between the wheel and the case on the driveshaft. slide
that off then u can take off the paddles and get to those 3 screws on the
wheel.

Thanks for the replies guys!
http://jensschumi.bravepages.com/LogiCorner.htm Crashes my IE.  I'll have to
try it on another PC.
I can't get the plastic cylinder off though.  It's just a single ring of
plastic.  Will keep trying.
Thanks!
Pete

whoo hoo - got the thing apart =)
The button is now working, it doesn't feel quite the same, but I'm happy!
It also doesn't centre, but I'll keep fiddling.
Thanks!

The repaired paddle has a smooth movement.  No real resistance and it
doesn't CLICK like the other paddle.  You don't know for sure if you've
pressed the button correctly.

With the working paddle, you know that the button has been pressed, by the
sound and feel.
Thanks!
