Anyone got an opinion on which simulator to go for when they are released?

Whats the best 3d card to go for for these simulators.

Looking to buy a new 3d card and one of these games.

Cheers Dirk

Nice movie-related screename ;)

If you want a racing simulator, then it's a no-brainer.  GP3 is your only
choice.  Even for an arcade game, GP3 will feature enough help and aids so
that every gamer can have a good experience out of it.  Geoff Crammond
clearly knows (like Papyrus and their old game engine list of titles) how to
create a rich environment of arcade features.

Wait until GP3 is released before taking your choice.

Thanks for that.

I enjoyed using the OF1 Racing as it was easy to get into, & with expert
mode on everything and a Msoft Forcefeedback wheel the racing experience was
good I thought. The AI was reasonably intelligent. Thats why I'm interested
in what Lankhor (the developer for Eidos) was going to produce eg F1WGP.

I've downloaded both videos of the forthcoming releases and both look good.

Cheers Dirk

Well judging by the prequals(sp?) and since threes no real evidence of much
change this time around.

It must be GP3.

F1 World Grand Prix will be more arcade than simulator.

I gave into impatience and bought this stinker.  It has some nice
features but they pale into insignificance to its poor points.  The
physics are awful.  Basically it either snaps away from you violenlty
into a spin, or displays a dreadful attempt at oversteer by just
locking the front wheels.  There is no sliding or gradual loss.  The
physics engine is poor.

Even worse is the computer AI.  They take dreadful lines into corners
so are easy to catch, and they must be in cars made of paper mache,
because they are terribly frightnened whenever you challenge.

Wait for GP3.  This stinks.

you must be thinking of a different game. F1 World Grand Prix doesn't
ship till the 21st of June. So you didn't buy that one yet :)

It shipped (certainly in UK) on 16th June. I have it also.

I enjoyed OF1R as an arcade racer, never ran the sim mode. As an
Arcade racer it was very, very good, hence I bought F1WGP.

As other have said, there are some problems with *physics*, in that
the braking has problems, very difficult to avoid lock up. Looks
good though, great sound and I'm sure after a patch or two it will
be a fun arcade racer. I have GP3 on order for my modern day F1 Sim
fix.

I'm pretty sure I seen it in EB, it was a new release anyway

GPIII or F1 World Grand Prix?

I think the only redeeming thing in F1WGP is that it is beautiful in
the highest resolutions.  Which I won't be able to run until I get my
Cray back from the shop :)  The tracks are modeled nicely, as far as I
can tell.  FF is kinda fake, but does rumble.  The cars are twitchy
and hard to control.  The setup screens are clunky.  The setup screen
keeps dropping for some inexplicable reason (just as I enter a
hairpin, usually).  The control of the car reminds me of MS Precision
Racing.  I think it's worth trying out if you can get it for nothing,
but otherwise suffers from the same problems as the demo.

Perhaps if guys start to tweak it, it might be ok.  It will take the
3000 user addons that F12K has, though.
