The TOCA demo is interesting ...

First off, under the list of 3d cards supported, it did NOT List 3dfx...
so I assume they are supporting it via d3d ... ??

A few impressions:

1.  Definitely Arcade
2.  It's fun knocking the headlights and tail lights out of the other
cars
3.  The cars sound funny
4.  Weather effects and lens flaring in the sun are cool
5.  Pieces fall off of the cars and they look dented and smashed after a
crackup ... very cool

turn or when braking will send them spinning -- lots of fun!
7.  You can acutally TOTAL other cars .. kock them out of the race..
8.  Has***pit view both with the dash and without (right hand drive
cars)
9.  I think this game is gonna be a keeper ...

Doug

p.s.  If anyone can verify how it uses 3dfx, I'd like to know -- because
I'm not sure it was using mine ...

>Anyone know if the demo can support wheels? Seems like only joystick
>and keyboard for now?

Works fine with my T2. A little twitchy steering (even with
sensitivity set to low) but I'm getting use to it. People should
definetly check this demo out - if for no other reason than to see the
spectacular rain effect (i.e., cars tail-lights relfecting off the wet
track, rain drops that move faster towards you based on your speed,
etc.).

Agreed. If you stay in the traffic and ignore the driving model it's a bit
of a laugh. But after the p/reviews I'd seen in mags I was hoping for
something to rival Nascar. Yea, well...er, maybe not. It might put
International Rally in the garage for good, but that's about it sadly.

All in all, looks like an excellent game. But with a bit more effort (ok,
probably a lot more effort given Codemasters' previous driving games ;-)
it could have been a lot more.

Andrew... waiting for a Touring Car Sim

PS Of course, it's possible this demo has some features missing... like a
garage and another three notches on the difficulty setting. But I'm not
holding my breath ;-)

I've read Playstation reviews and it hasn't settings options. In a race you
can drive into the pitlane but nothing happens, because pitstops are not a
part of touringcar racing.

You forgot the forcefeedback support,
its great, much better than in CART,
it could be even better if the crashes with other cars were fed back as
well!

I find this the BEST & MOST ENJOYABLE racing demo ever!
