Okay, I used to think that it was just too damn boring to watch Drag
Racing, but now I've changed my mind. Burnout is just plain fun.
Here's a synopsis, but keep in mind that I am *very* new to Drag
Racing and it's idiosyncrasies:
The Good:
=========
1> It's ***ing as hell.
2> It's got decent graphics.
3> It's got about 1 million options to play with!
4> It's going to be multiplayer.
5> It's a racing sim. :-)
The Bad:
=======
1> Typical, terrible Bethesda manual. My god, this is a sim and should
have a huge manual - like the one included with F15 from Jane's.
2> Controls are hard to get a handle on. I seem to have joystick creep
no matter what I do or what joystick I use - I do not have this
problem with any other game.
3> The included setups are terrible.
4> It's bracket racing.
5> No paintkit.
6> The sounds - they seem to be kind of weak to me. Should have more
thunder to them.
7> No multiplayer - yet.
The Ugly (or Subhumanoid, if you are Troma):
========================================
1> The manual. Yes, I know I listed it twice, but for someone like me
with no Drag Racing background it is really a big problem.
2> Still has a few bugs - random lockups/crashes.
3> No***pit.
Overall comments:
================
This game/sim is ***ing as hell! I am dying for the multiplayer to
go online at Mplayer. this game screams out for it like no other. I
don't have much time for tweaking, but I sure have time for racing, so
in a way it is good that it is bracket racing.
Overall I am very happy with this game purchase and anyone else with a
remote interest in Drag Racing should go buy it.
