Great report. I'm trying to get ready for a 75%
race this weekend over the modem with Mad Mikey.
We are starting at the beginning, Interlagos, too.

Hi Everyone (esp the NI PC World guys who sold me my Per4mer wheel the
other day)

All I can say about this game is WOW!
I have just finished the first round of a 50% Race Distance
World Championship in Brazil and I am breathless.
I qualified in pole, just 0.003 seconds ahead of Schumacher.
At the start, he powered past me into the lead, but I got past him
again at the first corner. In my mirror I could see Coulthard, where
was Schumacher I asked myself? I paused and had a look at the replay,
Alesi had clipped Schumacher's back wheel and he had spun out, finally
regaining the track in 20th place!
I lead for a couple of laps before a kerb-induced slip caused
me to spin, getting back on the track in 5th place, with Coulthard in
the lead followed by Hill, Alesi and Barichello. I managed to claw my
way back to 3rd, around 6 seconds behind Hill. As we approached 1/2
distance, a few computer cars began to go into the pits. I myself was
on a one-stopper and so when Coulthard went in (one stopper) I
cancelled my pit signal and stayed out for a charging lap to try to
pull some distance up on him. I went into the pits (a 9.0 second -
quite slow) and when I came out I was in 4th, behind Coulthard, Hill
and SCHUMACHER!! He had worked his way through almost the entire
field!! (Fantastic AI). On I powered and suddenly the message 'Damon
Hill is out of the race' flashed up on screen.
Pause...replay....Hill's engine had blown up, smoke and flames
belching from the Williams (Murray would have had a heart attack), so
I was in third. The gap was down to 2.5 seconds and I was catching all
the time thanks to my Sauber's superior straight-line speed. I
outbraked Mikey at the slow 1st gear left-hander before the
start-finish and found myself 11 secs behind Coulthard with 11 laps
remaining.
The time was gradually coming down, 10 secs, 8.5, 6.7, 5,9,
down to 4.7 with 2 laps to go. I was beginning to lose hope but then
suddenly I saw Coulhard! He had run into a group of back-markers and
was having trouble getting past them. We came to the Pinheirinho and
Coulthard touched wheels with Alboretto and went onto the grass....I
was in the lead!!
I squeezed past the back-markers with Coulthard in my
mirrors...then the message 'David Coulthard is in the pits' flashed up
just as I was about to start my last lap. His car must have been
damaged in the wheel-touch! I just had to take it easy a win the first
round of the Championship.
The race finished
1. Stephen McAuley
2. Jean Alesi
3. Michael Schumacher
(These 2 finished about 1/2 sec apart, they must have had some
battle!!)
4. Gerhard Berger
5. Reubens Barichello
6. David Coulthard

Retirees were Hill, Katayama (shock!), Irvine, Panis + Beretta

That is currently the track that I am working out as well. I assume if you
grabbed the pole you must have been 1.17.xx or below. The fastest I have hit so
far is 1.18.226 with 12 gallon fuel load. Ther is definately another second in
there to be had I just need to consistently stick all the corners. Would you
consider sharing your setup with the group? Also what average lap speed in race
configuration do you need to run up front? Will 1.19.xx - 1.20.xx do?

Try:
front wing 10
rear wing 5
ride height front 31
 "     "    rear  57.5
Not perfect I suspect but may help you get down to 1.18.xx
good luck

I`ve tried this but simply cannot control the car when exiting corners
I use 4 on front and back wing and struggle in rookie!!!! (I could
play F1GP in ACE with no problems).

With all helps turned off I made a 1.15.450 but it should be possible  to do
a 1.14.xxx . I hope that I can reach it this week.
My problem in race is, that my tyres are burned away after 12-13 Laps. Also
the computer is much more faster in the slow corners.

Anyone faster ?
