TPTCC - collision detection?

by ZZ » Fri, 28 Nov 2003 05:48:46

Has anyone noticed if the collision detection is better? I just ran some
laps at Mosport and it looks like the cars are still using the Nascar bodies
for detection. I ran a few laps from the roof  and when I get close to a car
in front of me, I hit them before the front bumper gets close. I haven't
noticed it in the TA Mod yet, only because we are driving stock cars. This
is the first mod with body altered cars. Is it just me? This could be a
problem in online races.

This is mentioned in the README/FAQ if I'm not mistaken, but yes, this
is correct, the collision detection doesn't accurately follow the new
bodies, as of now....

I agree Goy, it is presented as a known issue on the downloads page IIRC,
that collision detection is still a bit dodgey and to watch for it while
online.

On Road Courses this doesn't seem to be an issue though. We've held a
couple of fairly well populated sessions at smaller tracks and nobody
ever noticed the collision detection problem.

This could be a

I just had a incident with another car at the Papyrus Road Course.. I was
running 3rd when a car came up on me.. I washed up slightly ( I could see
him in my mirror.. I had plenty of room)  and got in to him. Luckly with
both more or less got away but he looked as though he was a good 8 to 10
feet off my right quarter panel when we made contact. I guess it's just
something to adjust to until they (when) fix it.
