GPL Oval Setups?

I'll be the first to admit it, I can't set up a car on a oval. Is anyone
working on setups for the new ovals. Bristol seems like fun but I usually
end up with the ass end of the car passing the front end<g>.

The big problem for me at Bristol is keeping the bottom of the car off the
track. Stiff suspension and 2.5 inch bump stops helped out a lot. Realizing
that there is one heck of a bump right on the line entering into turns 1 & 3
( particularly 3) also
helped . I found it affected the GPL car far more than the N3 cars. I now
take the start of corner 3 about 1 car width above the N3 driving linewhere
it seems to be slightly less viscious. As a plus you dont get as *** a run
at the wall when you do loose it :)  Ovals seem the require even more of a
gentle throttle foot than normal.

I'm interested in such setups too. But first I would like to have some
N3-tracks in my GPL. I had some N2-tracks converted, but lost them by
trying to convert N3-tracks with the Noonan-converter and now having
sold my N2. Is there a possibility to convert N3-tracks?

And how did you get Bristol converted??? Are they any other tracks
except of Loudon, Hickory and Glen, that can be converted?

If I may.. You may or may not be right with the suggested line, I'll
have to experiment with it.  As far as your analysis of why it's harder
for a GP car?  N3 doesn't have the physics that GPL does.  With N3, you
can do almost anything that a real car couldn't.  With GPL, Real physics
apply.  So, If we had GPL physics in N3 it would be just as hard as
GPL.  With the exception of the weight to play with and stickier tires..

Yes there are more tracks available now!  Go on out to
http://www.racesimcentral.net/ and pick up Dave Noonan's latest oval track
converter.  You'll have Atlanta, Bristol, C***te, Darlington, Pikes
Peak, Talladega and Texas and you can use the N3 versions.

Seems the default setups generally aren't all that bad, though I'll
admit I've only tried Talladega & Michigan so far.  Take fuel out &
adjust the gear ratios & you're looking pretty good at these tracks.
Last night, I came in on the tail end of practice at Talladega for
F3's.  There was only like 2 minutes left, so I couldn't really tweak
anything which left me with a default setup minus the extra fuel.  In
the field was Ron Ayton and Mike Barlow.  Well, let's just say I wasn't
more than a rolling chicane <g> and I did my best to stay out of the
leader's way.  These guys nose-to-tail and they flat out fly!  So this
morning I put in 40+ laps practice & tweaked around on my setup for
Tally and now I've got her down to 1:10.24.  Maybe next time I can catch
the tail end of that draft!

I've not seen any races at Darlington yet, though I think this would be
an excellent track to race on.  There seems to be so many different
lines through the corners to choose from.  I'm sure this would make for
great wheel-to-wheel racing.
