Fantasy Tracks problem?

Fantasy Tracks problem?

by Brent Edge » Wed, 20 Aug 1997 04:00:00

I can't get them to run.  I unzipped them into my nascar directory and ran
the calendar.bat file.  When I go to the game I can't select the track
anywhere.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,
Brent

the important thing, once you have your files in the right place, (I
unzipped mine into the Nascar2\tracks directory) is to rename your
current calendar file in the nascar2 directory (I used oldcalendar) and
cut the new calendar file from the tracks directory and paste it into
Nascar2 directory ...this should work fine, and if you ever want to go
back to your old calendar, simply delete (or rename) the new one,,,,and
rename your old one back to calendar  :) hope it helps

The problem is with the directions.  They say put them in your Nascar2
directory, not in the Nascar2\Tracks directory.   Something which should be
updated in the " readme " file, but which should have been noticed when
installing the tracks.   After all, tracks do go in the TRACKS directory,
right?  :-)

% Thanks for the correction. I bet I'm still racing on the old ones,
% because I installed the new ones from the nascar directory. (Which
% makes sense - now that I think about it I wondered why I didn't get

% out the latest tracks!

The real problem is that whoever "zipped" the files did not have them in
a sub-directory called TRACKS.  If they had been zipped correctly the
instructions would have worked (pkunzip -d).

 duhhh...
I looked in the Nascar2 directory and said "Now why didn't I think of
that?".  Anyways, it fixed my problem and the tracks are pretty cool.  I dig
Red Rock.

Thanks a bunch,
Brent

Did you unzip with the -d option? i.e.,:

pkunzip -d tracks.zip

I think the directions are incorrect.  They should say to unzip the
files under your tracks subdirectory within your nascar directory, not
into your nascar directory.  That's where I put mine, and it works
fine.  Once you move the directories, they should show up in the game.

Good Luck.

You should also run the calendar.bat file in the nascar2 directory and not the
tracks subdirectory.  ie.  move all calendar.* files into the nascar2 directory
after unzipping the tracks.zip file in the tracks subdirectory.

Make sure they are in the NASCAR2/TRACKS directory.  Think the program
will unzip them like this NASCAR2/REDROCK.  They have to be in the TRACKS
directory.
