I joined some races at Bristol last night.  In spite of both races
being one long drawn out "incident", I had a really good time.  I was
using one of Bob Stanley's setups, and thought I did really well,
considering my lack of experience at that particular track.

I was wondering what sorts of speed folks typically carry through the
turns, how long a set of tires should last (lap wise) if they don't
get over abused, whether and when to brake, lifting points etc.

I can typically manage 100 to 102 at the apex, but this is pretty
slow, is it not?  I have managed 105 a few times, when the planets
were aligned.  I haven't been able to achieve those sorts of speeds
except by accident, though.  I think my end of straight speeds are
somewhere around 125, depending on how well I get off the corner.
Again, this seems kind of slow, though I generally get to 8000+ pms
before having to lift.

Boy, I cant wait until the replay analyzer is finished...

Another question I had has to do with weather, and is more general.
What exactly is the difference in night races and day races, if the
temperature and cloudiness are the same?  I would assume the track
surface temp would be different, but I can't tell any major difference
in performance.  (Probably a clue here about why I am so slow...)

TIA,
Gerald Moore
