Test Drive Le Mans? Toca 2?

Just wondering what everyone's experience has been with these. One thing
I noticed is that I cannot find any screen shots from Le Mans which show
an "in-the-car" view; that is, all views I saw are external and do not
show the viewpoint from the drivers' perspective.

Any thoughts appreciated!

Andrew

ps.. sorry for all the questions.... I'm jonesing for all kinds o'
racing...

Tried the demo for LeMans yesterday. There are no in-car-view. And
that fact alone says something about the seriousness of it. Good
graphics and sound though. I couldn't steer the car either, it spun on
me in a sweeper after hardly touching the wheel.

Toca 2 has got very critizied here at r.a.s. because of the physics
model, and the ability to never loose the rear end. But at least it
has a great in-car-view that tilts in the turns and when other drivers
crash into you, your virtual driver is showing his***(offensive
patch anyone ?). I had good fun with it, specially the supportraces
you can do. Toca 2 was also the first race game i tried where the
force feedback modelled a lighter wheel when turning too much.

My advice is to download both demos and try for yourself.

I was afraid of the lack of in-car view. Personally, I would never purchase a
racing "sim" without a driver view. Thanks for the info!

I wouldn't even buy a driving "game" without***pit view.  While
unfortunately limiting on a PC, it's the ONLY view I'll race with.  I want
to feel like I'm THERE, not watching it!  Even if there's a "better" view
for running race courses.  Admittedly I've used arcade view on restarts in
N99 when in heavy traffic, but only until traffic thins out.

TOCA 2 sits gathering dust on my shelf.  That sums it up really.  It isn't
up to the standard of say Sports Car GT, Viper Racing or Superbike 2000, and
obviously nowhere near the standard of GPL, GP500 etc.  I guess you'd have
to be a big TOCA fan to buy it.  It has it's plus points, very nice
grahpics, excellent rain effect, virtual***pit, nice circuits, but the
physics model ruins the whole game as a serious long term challenge.

I got both games.

TOCA 2 is a very nice 'start me up and race' game. You can easily drive it
with your keyboard (better than with the wheel...)
and its good instant fun. Not a real racing sim but the ambience of the game
is very very good, and so are the tracks.

Le MANS is a different game. Its just awful.

Surely the problem with the TOCA games is that they lose the back end
too easily - they resolutely fail to run wide.
