Whats the best app for capturing N2k2 movies? I'm reasonably tempted to dump
to SVHS and capture back in again ( can have sound as well that way )

Also - can you turn off the racing line for Replays in N2k2?

Regards

Don't know about capturing movies, but you can edit out the racing line
in the replay theater in NR2002.  It is a "toggle" that you can enable
or remove.

Get ready to do a little downloading.  :)  Not much.

VirtualDub:  http://www.virtualdub.org/index
Goldwave:  http://www.goldwave.com
GPL2AVI:  http://genlyai.m4driving.sm
DivX:  http://www.divx.com

First, use the replay editor to get everything sorted out to the way you want
it, including camera angles, etc.  Then, use GPL2AVI to dump the movie.

You can record sound by doing the following:  Double click the Sound Properties
next to the clock on the Taskbar in Windows, go to Options, Properties,
Recording.  Toggle Wave Out Mixed or Mixed Output, whichever it's called on
your PC.  Click OK.  Check the Wave Out Mixed setting on the right side.

Now, fire up your favorite sound editor (I use Goldwave personally) and start
recording.  Play the N2002 edited replay just like it is in the movie.  Exit
the game and go back to the sound editor.  Trim out the silences and save as a
.wav file.

Now, fire up VirtualDub and open your AVI file you made.  Click Audio, WAV
Audio, choose your .wav file.  Now, tweak the sound compression and the video
compression (I suggest DivX 5) and save it.  :)

Now, to go back to being able to use your mic for recording, choose Microphone
in the Recording Properties where you chose Wave Out Mixed earlier.

Don't be intimidated--it sounds like a lot, but it takes longer to type out
than it does to actually do it.  Also, it's easy to remember the steps after
doing it a few times.

Good luck!  :)
