Anyone using 12 mb Voodoo2 with NHRA?

A quick question for anyone with NHRA and a 12 mb Voodoo2 card. Can you use
the high res textures with this setup? This shouldn't be a problem since a
12 mb V2 has 8 mb of texture space.

Kyle,

I have the Obsidian X-24 (24mb SLI) and so far 640x480 seems to be the
limit. This game was not optimized for Voodoo 2  12mb or SLI and that is a
damn shame. I've loaded this game on a P2 400 with an ATI Rage Pro AGP card
(yuk) and it actually looked alot better than the Voodoo 2 !  I hope the
graphics engine in this game is capable of higher resolutions. The Tantrum
webpage screen shots look like 800x600 or better, although it may be because
the pictures are smaller that the resolution seems higher. The loading times
and the lack of higher resolutions are my main complaints at this time.
Multiplayer addon would be the balls. Otherwise the game rocks.

Kyle,
I forgot to answer your question. I see a good number of graphic
anomolies (missing textures and a whit blocky mouse curser) with the texture
setting on high with my SLI setup. I'm not sure if this is across the board
with V2 SLI owners.  Tantrum.....please fix this....there is plenty of
horsepower in a V2 SLI to run this game !!

I may be off base here, but perhaps high res textures has to do with
the max texture sizes the 3Dfx cards can handle.
There was a big pissing contest over this regarding Unreal with GL
support and the upcoming Riva TNT card.
Apparently, some non-3Dfx cards can do higher resolution textures.

Someone else here has probably read the thread (I bailed out early)
and can add more to this.

Not if they went out of their way to cripple 3dfx support. Which
is what it seems like to me

No I haven't. And I won't see it if 1) the 3dfx support is hosed (burnout
was not that bad graphicaly with 3dfx), and 2) You really cannot get the
analog pedals to work.***them on these 2 points :-)

I always thought multiplayer was supposed to be in the game. Then
I again I kind of expected to be using my 3dfx and T2 pedals too :-)

Greg,

I hope that is not the case.  Have you seen the graphics in this game
yet? If Tantrum didn't shoot themselves in the foot and the graphic engine
is capable of higher resolutions (V2 SLI) then graphically speaking the game
is a diamond in the rough. Also the AI is not as tough as I thought is was
and the set up options should be more sensitive on the advaced setting. The
ultimate question regarding the shelf life of the game is the multi-player
issue. Was this promised of even talked about by tantrum or the beta
testers?
