A couple of observations and a Q on SCGT:

First, as has been noted, you can increase your framerate by disabling the
rearview mirror option, or just by choosing the one without a frame.  Why the
framed mirror results in such a substantial framerate hit is beyond me.

As most observe, the sound of the AI cars overwhelms your engine sound.  I
recall hints suggesting that you edit the sound of the engine wav files to
address this.  However, when attempting this, I realized that the sounds you
hear for *all* the cars are the internal wavs (ex: eng2ia.wav) when you are in
the internal view (including the other cars).  The other cars use the external
wavs (ex: eng2ea.wav) only when you are in external view (and yours is then
also the external wav).  So, you can't just edit the external wavs to get a
better sound balance.  Anyone have a good fix?

Last, hate to admit it, but I'm not 100% sure which are the fantasy tracks
:-O.  Chatham, Northpoint, Sardian, Desert?  Am I correct?
