I got my copy of NFS2 today and my first impressions are very good.
After a few hours of play, here are some thoughts:
o The game installed very cleanly - set itself up in Win95 & worked
on the first try (more than you can say for NFS SE)
o The overall feel of the game is good - it runs fine on my p133
w/32mb
o This is definitely NOT a racing simulator -- diehard GP2/ICR2 fans
won't enjoy it
o This game isn't a direct replacement for NFS/SE -- I plan to keep
NFS. They are sufficiently different enough that I will continue to
enjoy both.
o The cars showcase is awesome - great video, great slides
o The music rocks -- But what would you expect out of an Allastair
Hirst prod ..
o The user interface is a little cleaner than w/NFS or SE
o You can now drive the wrong way, stay in car view during wrecks and
burnouts and modify the cars (color and about five performance settings)
o Haven't tried it w/a wheel & pedals, but looks like it supports 'em
all
o Unsure of how to use the cheats at this time (LilZip gives you
bonus car & Shotme gives you bonus track)
o Wrecks w/traffic on are spectacular -- I hit a Semi and he flipped
-- it was great !!
Definitely worth the price, especially w/EA's $29.95 upgrade offer.
