GP2 - called into pits - argue??

by Tony O'Bri » Wed, 31 Jul 1996 04:00:00

Greetings,

I was in the middle of qualifying last night and on my last lap
managed to pull a complete blinder lap (for me), comming into the pit
straight about 4-5 seconds better than I've ever managed.  It was
about the 5th lap of qualifying and I had fuel for half a lap left.
There I was screaming down the straight watching the time display and
just as I get near the pit lane the steering gets stolen from me and I
get dragged towards the pits....  straight into the wall seperating
the track from the pits.  There goes my best lap :-(.

I jumped into a replay straight away to see what had happened and I
finally noticed that the 'come into pits' light was on.  I chose to
ignore it and try for a PB but it refused to let me drive past.

My question... can I ignore the team managers 'request'?   I figure a
steering over-ride is a bit harsh.

Yes,
Just press the return key when you see the pit request light come on -
it will turn it off.

Press the enter key to override to ignore the pit request.  Likewise,
to enter the pits on an unscheduled stop (not due to a manager request
or accident), you must press the enter key to signal your pit crew.

Yes.  Just hit the ENTER key.  This key toggles the pit-request on and off.
The pit light will always be lit when you pass the finishing line.  Wait
until you are on the first straight and then hit the ENTER key.  This way
you should be able to bypass the pitlane without being "dragged" in.

You need to disable steering help, but if you really have to use steering
help, hitting the ENTER key when the 'come into the pits' light is on will
disable it and let you ignore it.

Cheers.
