Dirrect x5 and home made steering wheel problem, HELP

by AlanR » Mon, 27 Oct 1997 03:00:00

My fantastic home made wheel wasn't recognised by Win 95, but my win95 was the
upgrade version therefore I still could run MSD . This OLD program found my
wheel and after that Win95 decided that I had got a wheel afterall. Strange

Dirrect x5 and home made steering wheel problem, HELP

Has anyone else had this problem. Since the Joystick settup chanced to Game
controlls in the controll menu my wheel is no longer detected. I use b250k
pots that work perfectly in Nascar2 and all dos games. I have also noticed
that my old Joystick also dosent work, but my sidewinder is fine hhhhmmmm.
Of course I have no drivers that I can load because I made it myself and
would not have a clue how it works after the signal leaves the pots.
I have tried the dirrectplay 5a update but that didnt help. The CART
precision racing demo is very close and im getting abit edgy at the thought
of not being able to use my wheel.
 Thanks people
   Todd.

First I would try Thrustmaster's ProPanel:
ftp://208.129.210.78/pub/library/propanel.exe

Even though it looks alot like the applet in DirectX 5, it may offer a
better change of reading your homemade wheel with the 250k pots.

Make sure that your wheel setup is the number 1 ID.  Try removing all
game controlling devices from the controller menu.  You may even want to
try rebooting your machine after you removed the devices and start it up
with your wheel attached and then select it in the ProPanel applet.
