GPL Converter: Problems with Two Tracks

by Andy Garto » Thu, 03 Aug 2000 04:00:00

Hi all,

I bought the converter yesterday, and it's fantastic. I now have
forty superb GPL tracks to spend my life on ;-)

Problems with two tracks though: Mid Ohio and Atlanta (the oval)
both have graphical corruption in the form of lots of flickering
polygons (bad enough to make them unplayable). Not a major deal
but I'd like to use these if possible.

I'm using a GeForce card and the D3D rasterizer, which I suspect
is the problem.  Any ideas anybody?

(While I'm here, I converted all my ICR2 tracks, but didn't get
Road America/Elkhart Lake, which I thought was an ICR2 track?)

Thanks,
Andy

Well, I've heard of (and experienced) problems with the converted Sears
(New) and Fontana, but not Mid-Ohio and Atlanta (the latter of which I don't
have).  This is also with a GeForce and the D3D rasterizer - everything
(except the framerate, of course) was fine with the OpenGL rasterizer.

Sorry, haven't heard of a fix yet, but you aren't the only one having
problems, if that's any consolation.

Speaking of problems with converted tracks, has anybody had problems with
Pikes Peak?

The GPVL ran a league race there last week, and during the week's testing
and race itself, many of us had problems with screen locks. The car would
run normally (according to other drivers, seeing an uncontrolled car
bouncing around), but it was impossible to exit from the static screen
without a forced exit from GPL. This problem always occured in the region of
the entry to T3.

I was wondering if this is a common fault?

Haven't seen it.  Our PPIR race went fairly well...
