Real NASCAR cars don't have a speedo, the drivers don't really want to
know how fast they are going (otherwise they might slow down) ;-)

Besides the screen shots where NOT screen shots but "mock-ups" of what
Papyrus, would like the game to look like.  There were more in line with
story-boards for movies.

Hi Rich,
Since the drivers don't have a speedometer, we removed it.  We
couldn't put the shifter where it should go so we removed that too.
However, you'll be able to get a display of those by pressing a key (not
sure which one yet :).  The display will appear to the left of the gas
gauge.

Real live Nascars don't have speedo's. Guess its going to be
like that in Nascar 2.

ROFL!!!
I think they *could* get a speedo in there, but the crew chief would
take it out.   That way, he can tell the driver to keep going faster,
and the driver can't respond with the obvious "Geez, I'm already doin'
190"...

Thank you Adam!   The sensory inputs from a real racecar are much
higher that those from the simulation.  You can "feel" how fast you
are going.

In the simulation, knowing the speed at various points on the track is
a very useful piece of information and you can most easily get that
from a speedometer.

It possible  that the speedometer could  be replaced by forcefeed back
steering wheels and a full motion gyro platform (for up to 1G of load
anyway) but only time will tell...

You're right, of course....  Some drivers want them in their car.

Are laptimes going to be in seconds now instead of mph?  I would much
rather see it that way, or an option for either time or mph/kph or
both?

Hi George,
The plan is to have a global switch which will change between
time/speed everywhere in the game.  One thing we learned is that while
most people think in speed, at the track, everyone thinks in time.
