"speed sensitive" setting, and the only thing it did was make the cars
twitchy and the force feedback effects became overwhelming and in many
cases I ended up driving into the wall. It didn't seem particularly
"realistic". The advanced editor also lets you get rid of the
ultra-grabby grass, which is good, and with the realistic tires it's
much more challenging (although the AI seems to crash more often).
I wish I could get antialiasing to work with this game, but I just
have a Radeon 9700, so it's a no go.
On the whole it's better than Gran Turismo 3. The graphics may be
simpler but they are less pixelated and the AI cars don't drive like
they are lobotomized and ram you all the time- it always ticks me off
when they ram you on a turn and make you spin out. The only downside
I think is that I can't really change the race conditions enough for
the career races. It would be good to be able to change the fuel/tire
wear rate, number of laps, etc. If you don't want to spend 40+
minutes driving, well, I don't see a way to get pit strategy into the
game, because it seems I can run a whole short race with no stops for
gas. If you crash too, it pretty much sucks because the race is for
all purposes over- even if you pit to repair it, there's not enough
time to catch up.
