If you're going to ignore an entire racing series because of ONE boisterous fan
or ONE race that went wrong, then I don't know what to say...

Maybe the "English" was actually "Nascar driver" English? ;)

I also recall a race lately where they had a river going across the track.
This racing organization cares nothing about it's drivers. It will let them
race on the track with a dangerous drainage problem, (or not race, or race,
or not, or will, or....) and it sets up races and sells tickets before it
has done any kind of testing. Putting one person in one car for one hour at
Texas would have shown them the problem. Did they have that hour? No, they
were too interested in the bottom money line than the safety of their
drivers. CART is a very bad organization. I would rather watch Grand Prix
and IRL or a dirt track race than any CART race. There is tons of other
racing on TV to watch so I'm not missing anything. I know I'm not missing
all the stupid whiners that berate papy about a CART sim.......

The track has been there for 30 + years.  Yes it rains in the
midwest...although not like England or Belgium.  THe river started when they
fixed a previous flow...the water just diverted to the next lowest spot on
the track.  Bad call on Cart's part.  But not a problem in decades of racing
in good and bad weather.
Texas...WHEN?  Before the season?  Before the 2001 tubs were built?
Before the latest Honda/Ford/Toyota/Phoenix engine packages were shipped?
Before Bridgestone finished up it's tires?  The Rahal team with Kenny BRACK
did test at Texas.  They DID run for an afternoon, they did so in an 2000
spec car and ran at about 221mph.  NO PROBLEM.  Remember Brack was a former
IRL champion who had raced IRL cars several times at Texas.  He of all CART
folks should have sniffed out any problems.  But he didn't, and when they
came back with the new cars, they OBLITERATED all previous IRL, Winston Cup
etc speed records.   If you can predict speed, why not just award the F1 WC
to the team with the biggest budget NOW and save everyone the trouble of
watching.
Or should they have tested during the seaon?  Do you take a team away
from it's weekly preparations to spend a day at Texas?  Then how do you
compensate that team for the lost time...how do you compensate the REST of
the teams that didn't get the chance to test?
When the IRL started...Team Menard did all the engine and chassis testing.
Before the IRL had turned a single lap the Mennard team had over 1000 laps
at Indy and hundreds more at other tracks.  Was that fair?  It took almost
two years for most of the teams to catch up with Mennard...fortunately  he
couldn't build a motor that would last under Tony Stewart's foot....
You don't like CART, that's ok...
I do...that's ok also.
I also like F1, Trans Am, bikes, trikes and airplanes etc etc...I'm a racing
fan..and that's ok, except with my wife.

oops almost missed the end of your post...yeah I'm a stupid whiner.  I
remember Papyrus planning on building a new CART sim soon after N3(which was
delayed to N4)
Looking at N4...I can only imagine what running a tunnel- bottomed,
turbo-charged, high downforce cars could be like.  and so....for you and
everyone else...I join Trus in saying...
CART!!!

Yes it was a very articulate post and spelled out many good reasons to
follow CART. I'm glad you enjoy it as many others do. However, you last
thought just killed the message for me. :)

I have a pretty good gut feeling that papy will never do a CART sim. They
already did an open wheel sim. It was GPL, it was a masterpiece of software
that will never be surpassed. It didn't sell. Nuff said, no CART sim, there
just isn't enough of a market for it. Nascar has a huge market and they will
stick to what they know will sell and sell and sell. You guys can scream at
every employee that posts on the board but I don't really think you are
going to get anywhere. Not that you guys don't try, and retry, and zzzzz
retry, and ugh, retry again, and again, and zzzzz again,
and.................

Well...I'd be just as happy if they did a late 70's F1 sim.
or even a modern F1 title...but to do that...they would need to make sure
they include stuff like....
Leaving a car on it's jack stand AT THE START OF A RACE!
Having a premier team change only 3 tires and then force the car to wait
while a pit crew member scurries off to the back of the garage to find the
4th tire.
These are integral to the sport...hope they include them.
:)
It doesn't matter what supposed level any racing series
occupies...mistakes will still happen.

Well, we've ALL seen races that carried on under what we would think were
dangerous conditions.  On an oval track, you wouldn't have seen that same
decision, so they DO have driver safety in mind, IMO.  I watch Grand Prix, IRL,
NASCAR, and more - I'm glad there are so many options out there.
I don't remember seeing anyone 'berate' Papy about a Cart sim.  That implies
that someone puts them down.  I've seen people voice their opinions, but that
doesn't fit my definition of 'berate'...
