I think I have a problem.

Hi, my Intergraph Reactor card came in the mail today. I was going to
install it but something caught my eye. I'm running a HP Pavilion 150MHz
Pentium, 16MB Ram. I first called tech support to see if I can install
the card on my system. First I told them it was a 4MB video card, and
the girl on the other line told me that all HP computers can only go to
2MB cards. Well, I was bummed. But then she told me to hold on, and I
was put on hold. She then came back and I told her it was Graphics
accelerator. She then told me that all I have to do is go into win95 and
disable my old card, a S3 Trio 64V+ and that the card should work. Then
the thing on the box caught my eye, 4MB Graphics Memory. So I was
wondering, will it still work?? I sure as hell hope so. I'm going to
have somebody who knows what their doing install the card. I'd really
hate to return it, I want a faster video card. Should I go ahead ans
install it and hope that it works o.k? If anyone has any suggestions,
please e-mail me.
THANKS!!

Matt,

Although I'm not familiar with your system, it sounds like the tech
support rep was confusing upgrading your (On-board) video with adding
a different card. As long as you install the reactor in a PCI slot and
disable your on-board video (if required), you should not have any
problems getting the reactor up and running! Some systems require you
to disable the onboard video via a jumper on your MB. Others allow
windows95 to add new hardware via plug n play support, which the
reactor does work with, and automatically disables your onboard vid.

Here's the easiest way to try it:

(1) Poweroff your system and open your case. (see your manual for
instructions on opening your system for adding cards, ect...)

(2) Place the reactor in a PCI slot. (Again, reference your manual for
PCI slot info)

(3) Make sure you plug the monitor cable on the Reactor card.

(4) Power up and let windows95 detect the reactor and follow prompts
for the driver(s) disk, ect...

Any problems, try to contact Intergraph Tech support. They are GREAT
at helping out with any problems and I'm sure they can get you through
the process if you get stuck.

Good Luck,
Ron
