Dear Simmers...
For many months now, I had N2 running nicely on my PC. Well, today, I
updated from Win 3.11 to WIN95. After all was finished, I closed WIN95
w/reboot to DOS (Where I originally installed N2). To the track we go.
No sound. Back to setup, and reset my soundcard. (Hmmm.) Anyway, back
to track, sound on, and using my T2 the car drove around the track and
all seemed well. Leave game. Tried GP2 (also previously installed in
DOS). Same no-sound deal, but reset sound and car drove fine. Tried
ICR2. Sound fine, car drove fine. Well, minimal problems in the WIN95
transition, or so I thought.
Tonight, I sat down to slam some doors at Martinsville. Boot to DOS,
kick up the game, go to the practice. No sound. ("What???") Back to
the setup screen, re-reinstall sound... back to the track... back in the
car... car won't drive. ??? Hit the Controls Menu. Keyboard controls
showing yet "Wheel" selected??? Try to select "Wheels". Nothing.
Natta. Can't get the keyboard controls off the freakin' screen. Dump
out, reboot to DOS, start game... no sound. Reset sound... back to
controls. Now selecting "Wheel" yeilds "joystick axis --". Ah... much
better. Try to set controls. Nothing doing. All read the same joystick
movement, and the set control window that should pop up does... for
about .1 sec and dissappears. Exit game, try something else...
The above routine tried w/wo T2's axialadaptor, uninstalled Sierra's
"Football Pro '97" that was installed inbetween first drive sessions and
this attempt. (Thinking maybe that game had "messed" with N2 in some
way? BTW, the FBPRO '97 installed fine, but wouldn't run... but that's
another story.) Calibration woes continue, nothing takes. It flat won't
calibrate. Can't play. HELP!!!! What in the world is going on? Why
did it work, and now it won't, and defies correction????? SITUATION
DESPARATE, ANY HELP THOROUGLY APPRECIATED!
Thanks...
Andre
