3dfx had four of the top six boards at U.S. retail, with the Voodoo3
2000 PCI coming in as the best selling graphics card in terms of both
unit shipments and revenues. In addition to the top position, the
Voodoo3 family scored the second and third spots with the 2000 AGP
coming in second and the 3000 AGP placing third. The Voodoo3 line has
held the title for best selling cards since their introduction in
April. In the U.K., 3dfx products accounted for almost 64 percent of
all graphics boards sold in the region."
A more Important, and revealing fact is that 3DFX lost 21 cents per share last
Q, and took a massive hit on the price of the stock, allmost 50%.
This all in spite of the fact that sales were good. 3DFX has allways been #1 in
sales, big deal. 3DFX is a company that never had any REAL competition. now
they do. Now RivaTnT is killing them, not in sales, but by taking away
marketshare at the same time 3DFX came out with a new product at discount
prices.
