isn't it a bit pathetic that the Daytona track can't be made
available on the web.  For goodness sake!  You need the friggin'
Papyrus N3 to make it work anyway!

What have they (Papyrus) to lose? Surely the prospect of a new
track (especially the big "D") would tempt a few thousand more
people to buy N3?

I have NR99 which I admit I enjoy.  I havn't upgraded to N3
because I don't really see any real benefit I would enjoy by
doing so.  Maybe if the prospect of racing at a legendary tri-
oval in Florida was handed to me I might fork out the bucks for
N3.

Sadly i don't think any more papyrus titles will be finding
there way onto my HD while this attitude persists and I wish
good luck to anyone who makes the Daytona track available!!

You just dont get it, do you.
International Speedway Corp., the owners of Daytona Speedway (and others),
contracted Papy
to make a Daytona only Demo.  Papy fulfilled their contract.  ISC owns both
virtual and real
Daytona speedways.  Papy is out of the loop once they produced the track and
demo.
Dont *** at Papy.  *** at ISC.

Well I don't really care who's fault it is.  Whoever is
responsible doesn't matter, the whole thing seems very
underhanded and downright dodgy!

The purpose of Usenet is for people of similar interests to share their
views about the topic at hand - be it complaint, praise, statement or even
fiction.
THAT said, I'm pretty damn tired of all these people complaining about
how this is all PAPY's fault.  You can be rest assured, that if it were
possible for Sierra to ONE CENT out of this, they'd make DAMN sure they got
their penny!!!  That said, it doesn't do any good to *** HERE about the
situation, since we have virtually NO financial "pull" with ISC.  Complain
via direct mail to THEM. FLOOD them with mail stating that you believe that
they should allow a license for this track to be either freely distributed
(yeah, right) or added in a "track pack."
We're all free to express our opinions - even when others don't SHARE
that opinion - but you REALLY should complain to the parties most likely to
be able to ALTER the situation: ISC, not Papy.

Exactly.  I hoped that people on r.a.s. had a clue of the business, but it
seems we have a lot of work to do collectively!  The last thing people
should do is to blame Papyrus.

...right after you copied Pocono to your N3 tracks folder?  :-)
Do you still have your N99?  Is it posted on E-bay yet :-)?

One thing that's become clear - people will pay $20
for one track (Daytona in the promo CD), and, what,
$20 for a brand new but outdated game to get the
remaining track (Pocono), to complete their N3 Cup season.
So if you add N3 plus these tracks plus tax/shipping -
around $100.  So anyone take a guess what they'll charge
for N4, especially if it has a complete season and "updated
physics"?  $69.99?

P.S. you're a joystick racer, right?  What's your
favorite stick(s)?  Have you seen this new Gravis Xterminator
stick/proportional 8-way combo?  Looks cool and
I like their keymapping software (I have an original
Xterminator).
