Viper Racing Lockups ???

by Fred » Wed, 02 Dec 1998 04:00:00

I am having problems with Viper Racing locking up the screen at random
intervals while playing, the game (sound anyway) continues on in the
background but the screen locks and I have to do the 3 finger salute to get
things working again.

I have and AMD K6-2 300 64 MByte 100 Mhz DRAM and Monster Voodoo2 12 Meg: I
have tried all of the different Drivers from 3Dfx and Diamond with no
effect.

This is really spoiling a brilliant game, can anyone give some ideas on
where to look next ???

Thanks

The same thing happens  to me, but only when the Force RS is hooked up.  It
hasn't happened since I disconnected it.  It also caused the sound to drop
out in F1RS.

I underclocked mine down to the lowest setting, and all that lockup
stuff went away.

Didn't loose much performance.  By using DirectX 6, and the beta Direct
6 3dfx drivers (which some say will cause blue triangles on the track
surface - oddly enough, it SOLVED that problem for me :)  ), I jumped
from 41 fps to 51fps!
