Well you must have read some issue to form the opinion you have, I mean you
must know all the facts to call someone a 'Dolt', otherwise I guess the
spirit of someone at least trying to do something is lost on you. OK they
havnt had a title out for a while (seems thats about to change) but at least
they are giving something ago instead on some people who just like to moan.

You guys do realize this is what (I believe) r.a.s. poster Todd Wasson (sp)
has been working on?  Sounds like Mr. West was contract help for 3d work
more than a part of the core development team.

Back to your normally scheduled hauler bashing. :-)

No, you missed something in that particular piece of news Andi refer to.
Tony West has been working for Virtual Racing. I guess he has been paid and
that makes it a job. Maybe short term but still a "real job".

BTW: I wish I didn't have a "real job" and had more time to work on my rank.

Tell me, do you honestly believe the project was delayed because Tony West is

Not necessarily.  If Bill and Bob build a house using their seperate,
individual skills, Bob's job may take 2 years and Bill's only 6 months.  If
that's the case, Bill can do other things for a year and a half without
delaying the houses'.. errmm... "release" ;-) at all.

Actually, I had the same fear too when Tony started out.  Not sure if/how much
it's effected the "schedule" but suffice it to say there's still much coding to
be done on Chris' end anyway :-)

The magazine, "The Life and Times of the West Brothers" was unfortunately
cancelled by their publisher on account of it being too difficult to read and
the Wests' simultaneous refusal to allow it to be produced under that name with
language aimed at a third grade reading comprehension level.  As a result, the
Wests have now been blamed and ridiculed for failing to produce anything at
all.

Anyway, as the others pointed out, if you had actually read the article
(actually just the first sentence) you would have known that "[VRC was] Created
by a team of international game developers, including Tony West of West Racing"

It mentions nothing of Chris, and it doesn't say "created by West Racing."

I would be much more harsh if you didn't have the cutest baby picture I've ever
seen posted at your web site :-)

Some people believe that refusing high paying job offers (rather shocking ones
to beat) to work for yourself after refusing to compromise a previous product
when demanded by the publisher, taking all the risk yourself to make what you
set out to make in the first place instead, is "moving on" at the highest
level.  I have to agree.

The jibes are generally in good humour, I am sure Chris and Tony have been
around usenet long enough not to give a monkeys anyway. Despite my own
occasional light hearted sarcasm aimed at the Westies I genuinely hope they
succeed, if only for my own selfish desires for the best racing sim
possible. If our own working lives were quite so visible I am sure we would
all get a load of opinions on how to do it better!

You big old softie!

Cheers
Tony

I must admit to chuckling at some of the jibes :-)  I especially liked the
hamster view and transport box bits.  I sent Tony the transport box remark and
he said, "right, I'll get right on that."  :-)

What we really need is a box with a nice bag, although I think the zipper may
be rather challenging to model...

If our working lives resembled this project, we'd be unemployed long ago.

Yeah, pretty darn good thing that there are better work options out there.

Some things take just way too long.
