Virtual com ports and N2

I have a Dell Dimension XPS300 w/ USRobitics 56K voice modem and I can't go
online in N2. It appears that DOS can't recognize the virtual com ports
that WIN95 uses. Anyway I can't select a com port in multiplayer setup in
N2. Game seems to work fine otherwise. I have tried tech support but get no
help, they all want to blame each other. I use com2 and IRQ3 for my modem.
Help, I want to race online. Thanks
