My guess is that it should be the other way around, since wider and
lower tires usually means more grip at the cost of more abrupt
loss of traction.

Well, some of the 1937 gp cars had 500-600 hp in less than 2000 lb's,
so I doubt floor it and go was a good technique :-)

: I don't know what it's like to drive a 1937 race car, but here's the deal...

: When you drive GPL, it feels like you're driving a car.

My lord what car do you have?  Let me know so that I can avoid buying
one :-)

GPL has much more in common with the fairground ride "the wheel of
nausea and sudden contact with armaco" than any car I've ever driven
thank god.  :-)

If you watch any of the films from that era, the cars look very
progressive in their on-limit behaviour, and seem to behave in almost
"slow motion" compared to watching modern cars. Unfortunately, none of
this feel seems to have been reproduced in SoS.

I wish the tires looked better as well, they were definitely more round-
shouldered and thinner in those days.

I'm very disappointed, I was looking forward to something like GPL, but
we've got something that will satisfy nobody.
